This "casual" is inspired by a true life email that I accidentally received from a big bucks Wall Street portfolio manager. In my answer I offered investment advice based on a unified theory of the universe that was told to me by a fellow named Krumline way back in college when I was flunking economics. Krumline theorized that just hanging around provides a core source of knowledge that is applicable to almost any subject and at the very least allows one to hold an opinion as dearly as the so-called “experts.”
The autobiography of my grandfather kicked off 2002 with its prologue about his removing a perfectly normal appendix from an otherwise healthy and conscious patient, then deciding to bite the bullet and charge him anyway. How he came to earn that $75 in California took him from a farm in Utah Territory to basketball stardom in Chicago, with stints as a doughboy in France, and as a school teacher and engineer on the Idaho frontier. His poignant, funny and outrageous takes on his life and times offered serialization that continued until February of 2003.
